Industrial Skin Packaging Film
IDEAL supplies industrial skin packaging film for hardware, tools, automotive components, replacement parts, electronic products and other industrial goods that require secure fixation, clear product presentation and reliable protection during handling and transportation.
Industrial skin packaging uses a transparent, heat-formable skin pack film to hold a product tightly against coated paperboard, corrugated board or another compatible backing material. After heating and vacuum forming, the film follows the shape of the product and seals to the coated surface around it. This creates a compact package that helps prevent product movement while keeping the item clearly visible.
Our industrial skin packaging film range includes PE skin pack film, Surlyn skin packaging film, heavy-duty skin pack film and PCB skin pack film. Standard and customized film widths and thicknesses are available according to product height, weight, shape, sharp edges, backing board and skin packaging machine configuration.
Industrial skin pack film is suitable for manufacturers, packaging converters, importers, distributors and contract packaging companies that need:

IDEAL has focused on vacuum skin packaging materials and packaging solutions since 1999. We support customers with film selection, specification customization, packaging compatibility evaluation and sample testing.
Instead of recommending one film for every product, our team evaluates the product shape, weight, height, backing material and machine conditions before recommending an industrial skin packaging film.
Our supply capabilities include:
For meat, seafood, poultry, cheese or prepared food applications, please visit our separate food skin packaging film page. The industrial film on this page should not be selected for direct food-contact applications unless the relevant material and compliance requirements have been confirmed.
An industrial skin packaging system normally consists of three important parts:
1. A heat-formable skin packaging film
2. A product placed on a compatible backing board
3. A skin packaging machine with controlled heating and vacuum
During the packaging process, the industrial skin pack film is heated until it reaches the required forming condition. Vacuum then draws the film tightly around the product and toward the backing material. The film adheres to the coated area around the product, creating a close-fitting transparent package.
The quality of the finished package depends on more than the film alone. Film grade, thickness, heating temperature, heating time, vacuum level, product height, backing board coating and board permeability can all influence the final result.
For this reason, IDEAL recommends evaluating the complete packaging structure rather than selecting industrial skin packaging film only by price or thickness.
Specifications may vary according to film grade, product requirements and production conditions. Please confirm the final technical data before placing a bulk order.
Skin packaging film for hardware is commonly used to pack products that are difficult to secure in ordinary bags or flat pouches.
Typical products include:
Industrial skin packaging film is also suitable for automotive aftermarket parts, machine components and replacement kits.
Possible applications include:
PCB skin packaging is used when electronic boards and components need to remain visible and securely positioned during transportation.
The selection process should consider:
| Selection Factor | Why It Matters | Recommended Consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Product Height | Higher products require greater film elongation during forming. | Use thicker or more formable skin pack film for high-profile products. |
| Product Weight | Heavy products place greater stress on the film and backing board. | Consider heavy-duty skin pack film and reinforced backing materials. |
| Product Shape | Deep recesses and irregular contours can cause uneven stretching. | Select film with sufficient elongation and forming performance. |
| Sharp Edges | Corners, cutting surfaces and protruding parts may puncture thin film. | Increase film thickness or use protective caps and adjusted product orientation. |
| Retail Presentation | Retail packaging requires clear visibility and a smooth appearance. | Choose film with high clarity, consistent thickness and good forming quality. |
| Transportation Conditions | Export shipping, vibration and repeated handling increase packaging stress. | Use film with stronger fixation, puncture resistance and impact performance. |
| Machine Configuration | Heating temperature, vacuum strength and working width affect forming results. | Confirm compatibility with the existing skin packaging machine before ordering. |
